The 2015/16 holiday season is now over and the Hancock family is back into somewhat of a routine. But we want to give you a brief update on what’s been going on in Cholula/Puebla with us and Mosaico Comunidad Cristiana.
It was such a blessing that Mitchell was able to spend practically his whole Christmas break here in Mexico and the family could be in one place together for a while. It was great!
Christmas Eve morning, 16 of us from Mosaico gathered in the kitchen of the Casa Verde to prepare 100+ tortas (that’s Spanish for a sub-style sandwich complete with everything including refried beans and of course Jalapenos) which we took to the Hospital General de Cholula. This is a social security hospital where many of those who are hospitalized come from rural areas outside of Puebla. Others come from poor areas of the city. We gave the tortas to the family members of those in the hospital which some of them had “camped out” on the hospital grounds or in the ER. It wasn’t the traditional Mexican Christmas dinner but they were glad to have something to eat. We also gave out ponche, which is a traditional Mexican hot punch with pieces of fruit and sugar cane in it. We encouraged and prayed for those who were interested also. Loving these people like Jesus on Christmas eve sprang from the heart of a few people from the congregation but it was a great blessing for everyone involved. God blessed us every one.
George and Ceci not only serve as an anchor of faith and great leaders at Mosaico they are wonderful servants of God and great examples for so many. For the past several years they have organized a party at a Christian orphanage called Esperanza Viva (Living Hope) on 3 Kings Day, which is almost as big as Christmas here in Mexico. This year some from Mosaico participated also. Some bought gifts for some of the kids (similar to Angel-tree in the US) and other food and snacks for the party. It is a highlight for the kids and us as well.
Coming up at the end of January, Mosaico will have her 4th anniversary. We plan to celebrate with some special stuff during the worship service and a dinner afterwards. Keep this special event and its impact in your prayers. We will share pictures and news with you next month.
Thanks for reading this, and thanks for praying for us and the ministry here in Cholula.
