What is Mosaico?

What is Mosaico?  1. Mosaico (Mosaic in English) is the art of creating images with an assemblage of small pieces of colored glass, stone, or other materials (Wikipedia). Mosaico is also a brand new congregation in Cholula, Puebla which can also be described as the assemblage of broken, imperfect people being formed and transformed by God into a beautiful work of art.

As part of the universal church, Mosaico is, of course, the bride of Christ, but she is also the daughter of CMF’s Globalscope campus ministry, EL Pozo and CMF’s church planting team.

God began publicly unveiling His Mosaico on January 22, when we had a little Sunday morning fiesta to share His vision for the church with those in attendance. It was an awesome time, with 57 people; we praised God, ate some great Mexican food, and shared not only Mission Mosaico but also Mosaico’s vision for the future.

  • Mission Mosaico: We want to reach and transform lives through: the love of Jesus Christ, Biblical teaching, growth in community.
  • Mosaico’s Vision:  We want to be a constantly growing community of disciples of Jesus Christ who reaches all generations in Puebla, Mexico, and to the ends of the earth.

The following Sunday was our first corporate worship service. There were 12 new people that joined us. Gabe, a guy in his early twenties said to me after the service, “That was really cool. I will be back next week for sure.” And Hortencia, a single mom also in her early twenties said of the worship service, “Wow! That was different. I’ve never experienced anything like that. I liked it.” It was really cute, I noticed that her almost-two-year-old son, Mateo, was playing air guitar during one of the worship songs.

It is really exciting to be a part of what God is doing among this diverse group. We can blatantly see God’s hand working among us as the excitement grows among those young adults who form part of the core group. As I mentioned, it is a diverse group. Those who are forming part of the Mosaico are from several different states in Mexico, Germany, Australia, and the USA—most are in their twenties and thirties, but some are older too, (like Tonja and I).

Keep Mosaico in your prayers as we move forward. Pray that many more would come and form part of the Mosaico. Pray for Carlos and Tania, who will be baptized on February 12th. Pray that many more will accept Christ also. We’ll do our best to keep you updated and informed of the latest news concerning Comunidad Cristiaina Mosaico.
